To eliminate these biological hazards without introducing toxic chemicals, every piece of manzanita undergoes dehumidification and heat-treatment to maintain internal core temperatures >160°F for up to 4 hours (with kiln chamber temperatures holding between 200°F and 220°F).
Chemical-Free Guarantee: We NEVER use bleach, solvent dips, pesticide sprays, or synthetic seals. Your bird or reptile can safely gnaw, climb, and interface with raw, unadulterated manzanita timber.

The Sierra Nevada foothills of Calaveras County are dense with Arctostaphylos (Manzanita)—an iron-hard, ultra-dense hardwood known for its twisting architecture and smooth, rich reddish-brown bark. However, overgrown manzanita thickets represent a severe wildfire hazard during dry summer months.
Our harvest model works directly alongside private land management and defensible space clearing efforts in Railroad Flat, Northern California. By hand-selecting standing deadfall and fuel-reduction cuts, we remove volatile wildfire fuel loads without felling a single live tree.
